During the past year in 2018 until now should consider as the golden age of Thai influencers. They have been capturing exceptional awareness such that many brands have invested huge media budget in their channels. Let’s see the successful cases of Thai influencers.
1. Viewer want to get something back after watching
“Get something back” doesn’t mean only knowledge, but also the thrill, fun or engagement while people were watching.
Last year we saw many “weird contents” doing weird thing in the public area. Normal people wouldn’t do this kind of behavior so it got netizens interests in term of “they want to do but not dare to do, let these influencers do it”
Contents need to be very unique or else it will be just fade with other tons of contents.
2. Simplify the “difficult” story and make it easy to understand
Influencers in this segment must expertise in specific fields for example:
- Point of view: This girl can simplify Thai literature that most of us would hate to read since we were young into interesting topics. (Her product/ service tie-in methods are also unique)
- spaceth.co: A group of boys who interested in spaceship. They could adapt the way to deliver “nerdy” stories into fascinating “nerdy” stories.
- Minimayy Blog: A beauty blogger who let her followers do skin routine in a simple way, it’s very easy for the beginner to follow her method.
3. Review of experiences and reaction video
Travelling and beauty contents have captured Thai people attention for a while, but now travel and beauty bloggers have combined several topics to their channels for example:
- Beauty and Eating: A blogger would show how-to make up for eating bbq buffet
- Beauty and experience: Icepadie is one of the top beauty bloggers in Thailand, recently she just got married and she made “review” for the wedding process even “review” her husband.
4. TV celebrities also join influencer market
The method that Thai celebrities use to join influencer market is quite proactive. Rather than creating their own Youtube channel, the big brand would invite these celebrities to host their channels; for example:
- The Styler by The Mall Group: The Mall Group is one of the biggest department store group in Thailand, they have invited “Ann Thongprasom”, who is the top actress in Thailand, to become their youtube host. The actress could just be herself no need to be very compose and turn out people like it this way that we can see the real “Ann Thongprasom”.
- Celeb Blog by Praew magazine: Magazine industry is dying in Thailand, but Praew magazine could spin off their media. “Suquan Bulakul” could create the hype of celebrity blog and have been a phenomenon of a while.
Overall we can see that there are many opportunities and methods for brands to create hype with Thai influencers. Instead of following the old route, brands can go viral with creative idea in collaborating with right influencers.
